Infant Care

We provide care for children beginning at 6 weeks of age. We have 2 classrooms for children under the age of 2. The infant room is for younger babies known as “Cozy Caterpillars” and our waddler room is for our “Busy Bees” – babies who are mobile and ready to explore more! Both classrooms teachers complete lessons plans and provide activities such as chapel, art, music, literature and sensory. Once children turn 2 years of age, they are ready to begin preschool in our 2 year old class.

Cozy Caterpillars (Infants)

Our Cozy Caterpillars are offered a safe, loving and nurturing environment with lots of opportunities to play and learn. Our caregivers provide a literature rich environment and intentional interactions to promote growth and development. We work closely with the Infant and Toddler Specialist Network for training and advice to continually improve our quality of care.

Ages: Our Cozy Caterpillar Room is for infants as young at 6 weeks old. They move to the Busy Bees room when they are ready for more exploration (any time between 8-16 months).

Daily Schedule: The daily schedule is based on individual needs. Caregivers and parents work as a team to share information to ensure continuity of care.

Activities and Curriculum: Our teachers use the “123 Read!” curriculum to provide activities. This program allows the caregiver to choose a book and build the week around that book. Parents are offered ideas to follow along with theme.

Parent Support: Caregivers provide a caring and supportive environment for parents. We support parents in the decision that parents have made for their little ones and do our best to provide care that matches what the parent desires. Caregivers update parents on bottles, food, naps, and diaper
change through the Brightwheel app. Parents have the ability to see real time updates and message the caregivers directly through the app.

We were awarded with the “Provider of the Year” Award to recognize our effort in providing quality care for infants and toddlers!

Busy Bees (Waddlers)

About our class: Once the babies are walking (or trying to walk!) they move up to our Busy Bee’s classroom where there is more to explore! We offer a literature rich environment with many opportunities to explore and learn at their own pace. Our caregivers provide intentional interactions
to promote growth and development. We work closely with the Infant and Toddler Specialist Network for trainings and advice to continually improve our quality of care.

A Busy Bee’s Day at EKC:
Mornings include outside playtime, indoor playtime (which includes the crawl through jungle gym!), open ended art activities, music, sensory play, opportunities to explore the theme and weekly Bible story, music and lots and lots of play time!

Lunch and Nap: Our Busy Bee’s are transitioning from high chairs to sitting in a chair at a table with friends. During lunch, we are practicing how to eat independently and learning appropriate social interactions. After lunch we unwind with a book until its time to go to sleep. We also are transitioning
from a crib to a mat for nap. Nap is from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Afternoon: After nap we enjoy a snack and free play! We may finish up an art project or activity from the morning until pick up time.

Our teachers use the “123 Read!” curriculum to provide daily activities. This program allow for the caregiver to choose a book and build the week around that book. Parents are offered ideas to follow along with theme.

In this classroom, our staff are introducing Conscious Discipline to our waddlers which is used throughout our program. Our waddler begin learning how to express their feeling, empathy, methods to calm down when upset, and how to be a good friend.
