Breastfeeding Friendly
In 2020, Eukarya King’s Cubs was awarded the Virginia Breastfeeding Friendly Early Care Program designation by state Health Commissioner, M. Norman Oliver, MD., MA.
In achieving this award, King’s Cubs demonstrated dedication to supporting mothers and families in meeting their breastfeeding goals. Our Infant Room caregivers, in partnership with the Virginia Infant and Toddler Specialist Network (https://va-itsnetwork.org), created an inviting, private area for mothers to feed their infants and/or express milk when needed. This unique breastfeeding area in the Infant Room includes a rocking chair, privacy screen, table, and white noise machine all designed to be a welcoming space which can help encourage breastfeeding longer. In addition to the breastfeeding area, King’s Cubs has shown evidence of meeting Virginia’s early care breastfeeding standards. Those include changes to the program’s policies, professional development for staff, providing resources for families, and communicating and documenting infant feeding practices.
Infant & Toddler Program
As infants and toddlers grow, King’s Cubs provides activities and opportunities to help them take each step. Our classroom set up, materials, and interactions are intentional to ensure quality care is provided. In 2019 & 2021, EKC was recognized as Provider of the Year by the Virginia Infant and Toddler Specialist Network (https://va-itsnetwork.org). We were awarded the Virginia Breastfeeding Friendly Early Care Program from the state Health Commissioner in 2020, as well. Our team of infant and toddler caregivers continue to work alongside parents to provide care that matches the individual needs of each child and family.
Preschool Program
Our preschool program further equips children academically, socially, and emotionally through a stimulating Virginia Department of Education approved curriculum, Biblically sound teaching, and play-based learning. This enriching educational environment is designed to be enjoyable and engaging, fostering a love for learning from the very beginning. Although we have a strong Christian program, we gladly serve Christian and non-Christian families in the community with love and excellence.
